Leadership that can actually scale the business
Artesia Advisors places senior operational leaders with private equity–backed platforms and high-performing independent contractors across residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services. We recruit the way operators think — not the way traditional recruiters do.
Start a conversationWe have. Artesia Advisors was built on the premise that evaluating operational leaders requires having been one. Our search process emphasizes proven field execution, unit economics, the ability to manage complexity across multiple locations, and cultural alignment with ownership — not résumé keywords.
We work on both retained and contingency engagements, and we are selective about the searches we take on. That selectivity is what allows us to work closely and move quickly.
Exclusive engagement with a structured search process, dedicated sourcing, and regular progress reporting. Best suited for senior platform roles and searches requiring confidentiality.
Fee is earned on successful placement only. Well-suited for clients with existing search relationships who want an additional specialized source for operational leadership roles.

Artesia Advisors was founded on a straightforward premise: the people best positioned to evaluate operational leaders are operators themselves.
Al acquired McCullough Heating & Air Conditioning in 2002 — when it had nine employees — and spent two decades scaling it into Austin’s largest family-owned residential HVAC business, with nearly seventy people across two locations. McCullough is a nine-time recipient of Carrier’s President’s Award for operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and technical training.
Before acquiring McCullough, Al operated a technology-focused executive search and consulting practice, and prior to that he held executive sales, marketing, and product management roles in the software industry. That combination — genuine operator experience, recruiting expertise, technology fluency, and two decades of industry standing — is what Artesia brings to every engagement.
We work with a limited number of clients at a time. If you’re a platform building out operational leadership — or an independent contractor preparing for the next stage of growth — we’d like to hear from you.
